Maybelline the Falsies Flared Volum' Express Waterproof Mascara Review!

I'm sure many of you have heard of this mascara. I'm also sure you've heard many mixed reviews about it. I just wanted to let you know my lash type. They're very normal. mi-length, mid-volume, not greasy. My eyes water a bit too.

I purchased this mascara for two or three dollars at Acme. My sister was actually shopping for a gift for her friend when she saw this, and I'm sure glad she did.

Packaging: The packaging on the Falsies Flared isn't too hot. It's bulky, and almost child-ish. I'd much prefer a sleek, black tube, like Revlon's mascaras. And although purple is my favorite color, Barney-Purple, is not. One plus, is that is is hard to lose!

Packaging Grade: B

Wand/Application: The spoon shaped wand is pretty unique. I've only seen a few mascaras with it. It is supposed to give you that "Flared" and "False Lash" look. It grabs easily onto your lashes, because it is shaped to your eye. It is possible however, that people with different eye shapes may have trouble with this wand.

Wand/Application Grade: B+

Formula: The first thing you will notice about this mascara is probably it's horrible smell. It basically smells like wall paint. That is the only bad thing about the formula. It is a moist mascara, that lasts a LONG time. It applies easily, and although it doesn't give you "falsies" it does five you a beautiful flared look. I like to wear eyeshadow, and this mascara without any eyeliner. It's super feminine, and pretty. This mascara doesn't clump, unless you apply it wrong.
Formula Grade: A

Total Grade: B+

What You Should Know About This Mascara Before Purchasing: If you are smell sensitive, this mascara isn't for you. However, if you want a beautiful flared effect for your lashes, this mascara is amazing! If you apply more coats, make sure you do it while the mascara is still wet, or it will clump.

How To Eat Healthfully This Thanksgiving! 5 Tips!

I know eating healthfully during the holidays can be hard. Really, really hard. With all of the temptation of pies, cakes, and cookies. Even white potatoes, greasy turkey, and crescent rolls aren't so healthy. Here is a guide for NOT putting on those extra pounds this holiday season!

1) Don't overeat!
In my family, the motto is, "On Thanksgiving, you eat until you can't (eat), then eat some more!". Although it is a "once a year" overeating, it is still overeating. It stretches your stomach, and makes you feel awful. It is BAD for you.

2) Eat the veggies first.
No, potatoes don't count, unless they're sweet potatoes, and they're made without sugar. Try to stick to steamed veggies, or at least ones that aren't oil coated.

3) Try to veer away from oil, salt, and milk products

Anything shiny, white, or super sweet, isn't good for you. Try to et steamed vegetables. Instead of turkey, try steamed fish! It's more accurate to the first Thanksgiving anyway! Salt is proven to raise blood pressure! Any butter? Nope. Try to avoid it!

4) Desserts.
Try to eat fruit as your dessert instead of the sugar loaded pie. You can make pie without the sugar! Just crumble oats and nuts over apple and cinnamon! It's healthy, and delicious!

5) It's once a year.

Maybe you deserve a break. Eat a little butter, or white flour or that apple pie. Just remember, it takes about two months to clear out the taste. In other words, you must be salt, sugar, white flour, and butter free for two months until you stop craving it.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! XO

Update: What's Going On In My Beautiful Life!

Hello!

I realize that I haven't told you what is going on in my beauty related life, other than, of course, my blog, and YouTube account.

For the first time this year, I started a cyber school. Yup! School on the computer. It's pretty nice. I like sitting in my P.J.'s lounging while calculating f(x).

While I'm on the topic of school, I'd also like to share a little about a club my sister and I started! It's called.... Embrace Your Inner Beauty! It is focusing on basically everything my blog focuses on, other than the DIY and tutorials. We've already helped out many girls with self esteem issues. We've recommended products to help their acne prone skin, and we've made some new friends!

Now that I am on the topic of friends, I just wanted to let you guys know, that I am more than happy to receive your comments, suggestions, or anything else you wish to bring to my attention. I envisioned this as a double ended journey. With outgoing and incoming thoughts. I really was ecstatic when I got my first video request! I'd love to fulfill more!

You'd think with all these transitions, I had thought out this blog post... lol...nope.
Speaking of videos and YouTube, I am not able to upload another one for a while... possibly until after the holidays. You see, I had been using my family's cameras. But soon, I will have my own, and it'll be the best! I am super excited to start messing around with it! I'm hoping to get it for Christmas/Hanukkah, (half my family is Christian, the other half Jewish). So expect some awesome videos after the holidays!

Thanks so much you guys! XOXO

DIY Peter Pan Collar Necklace

Hello everyone!

I'm sure you've seen this super trendy fashion statement going around! It really goes for a feminine and innocent look. Peter Pan Collars come on many different types of shirts, especially sheer or lace. However, sometimes the cost of a shirt with the PP (hehe) collar, is astronomical. With this SIMPLE DIY, you can make your own PP Necklace, and wear it with many different tops!

You will need-
A sharpie, felt, glue/needle and thread, beads/decorative gems, safety pins, a pattern for your PP Necklace, a ribbon or chain, and scissors.

  1. Begin by printing out the attached pattern and cutting it out.          http://www.sendspace.com/pro/r2c9h0
  2. Take your piece of felt, and fold it in half. Safety pin the felt in half. Align and trace your pattern along the center fold (the bent side).
  3. Cut out the pattern. Trim any unevenness.
  4. Use whatever gems or beads using the manner of adhesion of your choice!
  5. Attach the ribbon or chain by sewing!
  6. Viola!

Your Necklace will be gorgeous! It is super easy and yields great results! If you try this out, let me know!

Pretty Spring/Japanese Flowers Nail Paint Tutorial!

I was inspired by bubzbeauty (YouTube makeup guru) for this look. It really captures the effect of new spring blossoms on your fingers! It is cute and very wearable. The colors are more neutral (not to mention natural!) and they match mostly anything. I am planning on uploading a video to YouTube with a video tutorial of this nail look.

My vlog channel on YouTube is RachelsBeautyBlogg.

  1. Optional. Paint your nails with a clear polish to ensure NO NAIL STAINING!
  2. Paint your nails a solid natural-ish color. I chose a diamondy blue, to represent the sky, for me. Be sure to let this paint dry before moving on to the next step.
  3. Taking a slightly dried out pink color, blot this, using the brush, onto your nails. This will be the flowers. You can add as many, or as little flowers as you would like. Only don't make them too small, because we want to be able to add detail. Be sure to let this paint dry before moving on to the next step.
  4. Take a darker pink color, draw three curved lines around the edges of your flower. They shouldn't make a complete circle. Then make a smaller 'circle' of lines inside the other 'circle'. Make these lines in the spaces between the other lines. You can use a toothpick, or a nail art paint.
  5. Take a dark green (this will be your leaf color) and sculpt little leaves protruding out of the flowers. You can use a toothpick, or a nail art paint. Be sure to let this paint dry before moving on to the next step.
  6. Finally, paint a clear polish over the flowers to make your flowers last longer.

Hope you guys find these as lovely as  I did! Just remember, always paint, and remove your nail polish in a ventilated area. The fumes are very harmful to your health.

How to Handle Your Period

Okay. So first I'd like to say thank you to Gdrums on YouTube who requested this blog!

Second, I'm in no way a professional in this field, and any tips in this blog are strictly from personal experience, and results may vary from person to person!

What is your Period (menstruation)?

The dictionary defines your menstrual cycle as; The recurring monthly series of physiological changes in women and other female primates in which an egg is produced in the process known as ovulation, and the uterine lining thickens to allow for implantation if fertilization occurs. If the egg is not fertilized, the lining of the uterus breaks down and is discharged during menstruation.

Your period ones about once every month and lasts until menopause.

Symptoms

Everyones symptoms of menstruation will be different, however most symptoms consist of cramping, nausea, tender breasts, bloating, and also PMS.

PMS (premenstrual syndrome)

Well as you probably know, girls can get quite moody around "that time of the month". PMS is normal, however it doesn't give you the right to be nasty to anyone. There are herbal supplements that can help balance out your hormones, if necessary.

Oopsies!

Taking blood an dried blood out of cloth can be difficult. First, try using cold water. If that doesn't work, hydrogen peroxide should do the trick.

When Should I Expect my First Period?

Most girls get their periods from the ages 10-12.

Keeping Track Of Your Friend's Visits.

Downloading a period tracker app is a great way to not only calculate your periods arrival, but also your ovulation. You can also put marks on a calendar to keep track. Put a mark on the first day of your period, and the first day of your next period. Count the days. That should be your approximate cycle length.

I Missed My Period!

Missing your period can be a scary thing. If you haven't had your period for two years consistently, there's nothing to worry about. However, if you'd had you period consistently for MORE than two years, the loss of it could be caused by one of the possibilities below.

1) Your pregnant.
if you haven't had sex since you last period, rule this possibility out!

2) you've lost/gained weight suddenly.

3) too much exercise.

4) Stress.

But if none of these apply, don't worry! You don't have to worry until you've missed multiple periods in a row. Then you should see your doctor.

Looking Back At My First Period!

Well it all begins with... My birth! I was born, then eleven years went by. So in the summer of sixth grade, on a Tuesday, my mother invited her friends and their children to come over to our house to swim. We all were having a blast! Then I had to pee. I walked casually to the toilet, and lo and behold, my swimsuit was sprinkled with blood. Since my parents had been relatively open on this subject, I immediately knew what was happening. However, when I tried to tell her, she ignored me because she was too busy talking to her friends! Eventually though, I told her and she helped me with pads and such.

Feminine Products I Use/Recommend!

When it comes to pads, I tend to pick the ones with the wings, which helps hold it in place. I generally go with the least costly brand. I do however like the Always brand. As for tampons, I've actually never used one. I've never had the need to. But, I wanna try the Tampax Pearl, because I've heard good things about them!

Sleeping With Your Period

When I'm on my period, I hate going to sleep, because I'm always afraid that the bed will be stained when I awake. Although you can never be 100% sure of no staining, you can do your best to prevent it. Wearing a tight pair of shorts under your pants will not only hold your underwear in place, but also absorb any leaking blood. One thing my mother does is wearing a tampon, a pad and shorts to sleep.

Tips!

I minimize period cramps by limiting my intake of animal products! It works amazingly!

Again, I just wanted to say thank you to GDrums! I hope this better fulfilled your request!
